Description:
The 1892-CC $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle is an amazing coin! This is an extremely low mintage of only 27,265 coins originally struck. It is the second to last year of striking $20 Gold Liberty coins by the Carson City Mint. In fact, the Carsin City mint closed in the spring of 1893 and never reopened again as a minting facility.
This coin has rich luster and few marks. It has only the slightest friction on the high points which is why the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded it the highest circulated numerical grade of AU-58.
The obverse and reverse of these $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagles were designed by James B. Longacre. The obverse depicts an allegorical portrait of Miss Liberty, facing to the left. On the upper periphery are 13 six-pointed stars and the date “1892” is below.
The reverse depicts an American Eagle with a shield covering its body and its wings are outstretched. Immediately above the eagle are 13 six-pointed stars in an oval formation and inside are the words “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The upper periphery has “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” while the lower periphery displays “TWENTY DOLLARS.”
The shimmering luster and excellent strike make this a very attractive coin.
The NGC Price Guide for this coin in AU-58 condition is $11,500, making this coin an extremely attractive coin at only $9,950.00. This beautiful and rare coin will be the centerpiece of a Twenty Dollar Liberty collection or for a nice pre-’33 gold coin type set.
Only one coin is available.
