In the 1960's, bags upon bags of BU Morgans were discovered. Morgans that were once though of as rare or, were now considered with a higher mintage. At the time, the government packaged thousands of these coins, mainly the Morgans minted at the Carson City, into official government holders. Throughout the years, collectors and dealers have preserved some of these encased Morgans, instead of removing them from the holder. With still only 1.2 million Morgans minted at Carson City in 1883, this coin is difficult to hold on to for long. Your 1883-CC was minted at the US Mint in Carson City and carries the beloved mint mark "CC," right underneath the eagle's tail feathers. This Carson City Morgan is in brilliant uncirculated condition and is preserved in its original GSA packaging.
