Description:
The selectively rose gold-plated proof dollar is 99.99% pure silver, with a diameter of 36.07 millimeters and a nominal metal weight of 23.17 grams. The reverse design by Canadian artist Jason Bouwman features a collage of elements representing the 100-year history (1924-2024) of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), including the RCAF roundel and stylized tartan pattern. Planets symbolize the future and the RCAF's space division while stars represent the organization's motto, Sic Itur ad Astra ("Such is the pathway to the stars"). Below the maple leaf is a flaming parrot tulip (representing "Rescue") that will be part of the RCAF's Centennial celebrations in 2024, as well as the following aircraft (from left to right): a DH-82C Tiger Moth, a CF-188 Hornet, a CC-130 Hercules and a CH-147 Chinook. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles Ill by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
