Due to the limited mintages of each coin, many coin collectors are after the Australian Lunar Series in gold. The silver Australian Lunar Series II is also a sight for sore eyes but many of them do not contain low mintages. The Australian Lunar Series II is a follow-up series from the highly acclaimed Australian Lunar Series I. Inspired by the ancient Chinese calendar, each coin represents the animal associated with its date of mintage.
The Australian Lunar Series II 2014 1/10 ounce Gold Horse is guaranteed to be .9999 pure gold and is in brilliant uncirculated condition. The Perth Mint has seemed to focus on the original combination of matte brilliantly uncirculated and the gleaming qualities of the proof coin in this new series. This coin is also in a mint-sealed capsule, protecting its intricately finished proof-like surface. The reverse of the coin reveals a rambunctious stallion, its movements smooth and fast. "Year of the Horse" is written underneath the hooves and the Chinese symbol for the horse is above. Perth Mint began to mint mark the Lunar Series so there is a "P" on the left hand side. The obverse displays the timeless portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley of Queen Elizabeth II that celebrates the Queen's aging through the years. The coin's weight, purity, and date of mintage accompany the Queen on the obverse side. According to Chinese tradition, the horse is a reminder to improve one's mindset on life and circumstances. The horse is revered as strong, fast, intelligent, and a gentle giant. People who are born under the year of the horse are popular among peers, successful and active in their careers. Like their horse symbol, they also are kind but powerful as well. Claimed one of the most popular designs of the Australian Lunar Series II, the gold 2014 Horse is always just a visitor in our inventory!
