Australian Kangaroo 1 oz. Silver 2004

Being a miniature work of art, the 2004 frosted silver Kangaroo is the twelfth installment of the Royal Australian Mint's bullion series. Every year, the Royal Australian Mint produces a pure silver coin with a design of a kangaroo featured on the reverse. The mintage of these coins is incredibly low, increasing their numismatic value over the silver market price. The kangaroo thrives in Australia and is a symbol of Australia's wildlife. It known most for its long, spring-like legs that can make the kangaroo go up to 60 kilometers per hour. Each coin is .999 fine silver, in brilliant uncirculated condition, and comes packaged in its mint sealed capsule and card.

It's hard to produce a different design of a kangaroo every year without repeating designs or becoming boring. Yet the Royal Australian Mint's creativity proves it can be done! The reverse design on the 2004 coin is of a small kangaroo, embarking down a hill with its tail pointed towards the sky. It is standing in front of a large orb, most likely the sun guiding the young roo's way. The words, "one dollar," and "1 ounce fine silver," are written around the outer edge of the coin to reveal the coin's dollar value and its purity. The obverse of the silver coin is of an elegant Queen Elizabeth II, positioned sideways so just her side profile is showing. Ian Rank-Broadley designed this portrait of the Queen to honor her age and maturity instead of sugar coating it. Her lines that insinuate age are grooved into the coin, making her picture very realistic. Stated on this side of the coin is "Australia," and "2004," to show where and when the coin was minted.
