Australian Gold Kangaroo One Ounce 2014

First introduced in 1986 as the Australian Gold Nugget, the gold Kangaroo was minted by the Royal Australian Mint. This bullion series is considered legal tender and used to be one of the few series that changes their reverse design year to year. The Royal Australian Mint is out of Canberra, Australia and is one out of two mints currently in use in Australia. It is entirely owned by the Commonwealth Government of Australia. Each year, a proof coin and a uncirculated coin is minted.

The obverse of the Kangaroo displays a beautiful side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This specific side portrait of the Queen has been used on coins since 1953. Through the years, her face and hair accessories have changed to accommodate a more mature Queen. Written along the rim of the coin is "Australia," and the year of mintage, "2014." The coin's denomination of "100 dollars" is inscribed above the the kangaroo. Only 350,000 were minted for this date.
