The US Mint proudly introduces its US Mint Centennial Gold Coin series! Celebrating one hundred years of some of the most successful coin collections, the US Mint has taken the designs for the Mercury dime, the Standing Liberty quarter, and the Walking Liberty half dollar and turned them into astounding bullion pieces. Keeping a low mintage for each coin, the US Mint only produced 125,000 Gold Mercury Dime coins and they are going quickly! The magnificent Mercury dime design was first released in 1916, created by German-American sculptor, Adolph A. Weinman. Weinman desired to portray a younger Lady Liberty so he included the infamous winged Phrygian cap on her head. The Mercury dime's design is often mistaken for the Greek god, Mercury, since he also is depicted wearing a Phrygian cap. Weinman had to often defend his design, saying the cap symbolized "liberty of thought." Due to the Mint Act of 1792, the US coins must include an emblem of liberty, whether it's an eagle or actually Lady Liberty herself. Although the design of the Mercury dime was respected and admired, due to several die difficulties, it wasn't a favorite to actually produce. The Mercury dime was produced, by the US Mint, from 1916-1945, then the Roosevelt dime was selected as the new dime.

The 1/10 oz Gold Mercury Dime Coin is guaranteed, by the US government, to contain .9999 gold purity and weighs approximately 1/10 oz. Minted at the West Point Mint branch, the 1/10 oz Gold Mercury Dime Coin carries the popular mint-mark, "W," on its reverse. Displayed in its original mint packaging, the 1/10 oz Gold Mercury Dime Coin is snuggly encapsulated then placed into a sleek matte hardwood presentation box. The Certificate of Authenticity is also included in the package. The obverse reveals the Winged-Liberty and the date of mintage, while the reverse depicts a bundle of rods surrounding by olive branches, which symbolize peace and unity. The 1/10 oz Gold Mercury Dime Coin is predicted to have a brief appearance before being entirely sold out. Enjoy yours now, while you can!
