Description:
In 2006 a contractor was hired to renovate a bathroom. While removing a wall, he found a metal box filled with cash. With further exploration, more money was found behind the wall, totaling $128,000 face value, and about $500,000 collector value. The contractor and homeowner could not come to an agreement on how to split find, and ultimately the case went to court. After considerable research, it was decided that the rightful owners were the 21 descendants of the man who hid the money in the 1920's. Thus, the payout went to the descendants and towards legal fees. An unfortunate outcome for the two that couldn't agree on how to split the fortune.
